Revolutionising Distribution Centre Construction: The Harvey Norman Case Study
A purpose-built distribution warehouse that services Harvey Norman stores in Christchurch now provides customers with a central location to pick up big-ticket items.
The new distribution centre construction in Hornby consolidated three existing warehouses and was designed specifically for the company's needs, including precise inward goods truck movements and a unique racking layout.
Precise timing was critical for the renowned retail company, which needed construction fast-tracked due to impending lease expiration.
A tailored steel building and skilled warehouse builders were the selling points. Our dedicated project team responded by staying connected with the client, consultants, and contractors from start to finish to ensure the timeline advanced without delays.
Harnessing Steel in Warehouse Construction
Harvey Norman chose to go with a steel structure for their warehouse construction.
At 2706 sqm, the warehouse includes a reception area/public entry, offices at either end, staff amenities and a special MAF-approved area. The concrete slab is reinforced with armoured steel joints to bear the weight of freight trucks and heavy machinery.
